Celebrate July 4th at Lake Atwood
Plan a day of fun at Lake Atwood the Fourth of July. There will be races, live music, patriotic program and fireworks at dark! Fun for everyone!

There will be a celebration the evening of July 3rd with festivities beginning at 11:00 a.m. on July 4th with a parade in Bird City. Fireworks at dark from the Thresher Grounds!

Red Cross 8th Annual Blood Drive

8th Annual Blood Drive In Memory of Luke Schemm will be on March 6th at the Wallace County High School Gym

[SHARON SPRINGS, FEB. 19, 2024] — Luke Schemm loved competing on the football field but knew there was more to life than sports. The Wallace County High senior had a heart of gold and enjoyed helping others.

In 2015, Luke’s life was tragically cut short at 17 years old after he collapsed during a football playoff game. His giving spirit is greatly missed, and we encourage you to commemorate it by donating at the 8th annual American Red Cross Sharon Springs Community Blood Drive in Memory of Luke Schemm.

"The Ellis Trail to Nicodemus" Event

Documentary Coming February 17th and 24th:     
    In the early fall of 1877, a group of black settlers departed from central
Kentucky en route to a new promise of freedom in the lands of Western 
Kansas.  The journey included a trek on the Ellis Trail to their ultimate 
destination of Nicodemus, Kansas.  You are invited to share in a reenactment of 
this historical time and join us for the premier of the documentary that features 
the actual descendants of the original settlers portraying their ancestors and

Local Artists Wanted for Monthly Art Walk

COLBY -- Artists from northwest Kansas are invited to show their pieces in the Nov. 16 Third Thursday Gallery Art Walk at the Colby Community College gallery.

"Every piece will be local," said CCC art instructor Rebel Mahieu. "We want artists at all levels—amateur and professional, and all mediums are welcome."

Halloween Events

Downtown Trick or Treat on Halloween!

The Downtown Business Association, City of Colby and Colby/Thomas County Chamber invite kids 12 and under to downtown Colby for Downtown Trick or Treat on Halloween! Participating businesses will have a special flier on display in their window. Free trick or treat bags will be handed out in front of Colby City Hall. The event runs from 4 to 6 p.m.
