Warmer Weekend Ahead

Breezy and sunny to finish off a cooler week. Today we'll have highs in the mid 60's with increasing clouds in the overnight, bringing lows around 43. Warmer temperatures this weekend with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms for Saturday and highs in the lower 70's. Expect mid 80's and sunshine for Sunday and Memorial Day. Breezy and some slight chances for precipitation returns on Tuesday bringing us temperatures in the low to mid 80's. Overnight lows over the next couple days are expected to stay in the mid 40's to low 50's.

"Talk Literature" - A book discussion held on May 21st at 7:00 p.m. at the library. They will explore the book with Colby's own Taylen Hubble, CCC English Instructor. Check out and read "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow" by Gabrielle Zevin, multiple copies available now.

Summer Learning, Thursday May 28
Unearth a story at the library this summer! Join us as we brush up on our archaeology and paleontology skills and go digging for gems hidden in history. From preschoolers to adults, everyone can join the fun by registering for the Summer Learning Challenge Games, with prizes to earn all summer long! Attend many programs and the youngest explorers can get in on the excitement too during Stay and Play Storytime sessions! 

Kick Off-Adult/Teen Challenge - Sign up May 28 - June 30
Stop at the Library from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (a come and go event), or you can sign up and pick up a challenge packet at the front desk any time before Tuesday, June 30th. The last day to turn in your Challenge packet will be on Monday, August 3rd. Age/grade eligibility for the Adult/Teen Summer Reading challenge is 9th grade - 120 years young!

Colby Community College will celebrate its 61st commencement ceremony at 6:00 p.m. at the Colby Event Center. Earlier in the day, pinning ceremonies for dental hygiene and nursing will be held at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively. Events This Easter

Around Colby:
Kiwanis Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28th
For children 9 years or younger will be held in Fike Park starting at 10:00 a.m. The annual egg hunt is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Colby Thomas County. Over 2,100 plastic eggs will be filled with coins, candy, chocolates and local business coupons. There are three age divisions that gather in this order:
0-3 years old, 4-6 years old, and 7-9 years old. 
Parents are encouraged to assist younger children in finding the eggs. Families are also encouraged to bring their own baskets/bags to collect and take the eggs home. For information, contact Kiwanis member, Deryl Waldren - 303-349-7403.

Random Acts of Kindness Week
The Thomas County Community Foundation is celebrating National Random Acts of Kindness week in the hope that you will too! A community challenge has been put together to help encourage kindness. Very simple tasks that will make a difference. Please consider joining TCCF in their efforts to perpetuate kindness!

Saturday - Support a local business or restaurant. Shop small, dine local, or leave a kind review. 

Sunday - Give through donations. Donate food, clothing, supplies or resources to someone or an organization in need.
