In Atwood:
Christmas Opening in Atwood
Mason's will be having a Christmas Opening with light parade and Santa on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Soup Supper and Santa will be on December 10th!

Light Parade and more! in Atwood
The November 27th downtown Light Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Entrants should be registered with David Brown. Call 785-626-6107. Santa will be at Mojo's from 5:00 to 6:30 for kids' visits. He will also be there for a short time after the light parade. Most Atwood merchants will have their stores open late, shop at home!

In Colby:
Pioneer Memorial Library Food For Fines
Food for Fines will be held from November 28th – December 23rd. Call if the library 785-460-4470 if you have questions or see our Facebook page.
Other Library information: ESL classes are held each Thursday evening 6:30-8:00 pm.

Masks Now Required at the Library
Pioneer Memorial Library has posted that beginning today, November 23rd, masks are required to be worn inside at all times for those 5 years or above. Please use hand sanitizer after you enter the library and practice social distancing. Computer use is 60 minutes per day/per person. Reading of magazines or newspapers is allowed in the main part of the library. Browsing shelves for items or books is allowed and curbside delivery is still offered by calling the library at 785-460-4470.

Giving Tuesday-December 1st
On Tuesday, December 1st, in celebration of Giving Tuesday, Colby United Methodist Church will have a temporary button on their website that day to make it easy for people to give. You can easily choose to give to program such as Helping Paws Pet Food Bank, Genesis, or even Puddle Duck and more.

'To Go' Gem Pancake Day
The Gem Lions Club has had a Pancake Day since 1955 and the club is adapting to make this annual event happen this year. On Saturday, December 12th a ‘to-go’ Pancake Day will be available from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Gem Community Building. Meals will include pancakes, sausage, eggs and a brownie for free will donation. Contact Phyllis Ziegelmeier with questions 443-0784.

'To-Go' Breakfast at the Legion
The American Legion Riders will have a ‘to-go’ breakfast drive through on Saturday, December 5th from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the American Legion Post #363. Please use Experiment Station Road to enter. The breakfast is a free will donation. Contact Carl Miller for questions 785-269-7378

Interested in playing Volleyball this Winter? Registration is now open for our Women's Winter Volleyball League through Colby Recreation! Your league fee of $240 (per team) will feature a 10 match season with a tournament the final two weeks to determine our champion! You will play a double header each Sunday Evening.

First Sunday of Games: December 13th
First Sunday of Tournament Play: January 24th

Santa Visits at Santa City (Drive-Thru!)
Drive through Fike Park and admire the Light Parade Committee’s decorations before visiting Santa from the convenience of your vehicle. Enjoy a candy cane and sugar cookie from Mrs. Claus and be sure to tell Santa what you would like for Christmas. Times Santa will be in are posted on the Colby Convention & Visitor's Bureau's website and Facebook Page (@OasisonthePlains).

Light Parade in Colby
The Christmas Light Parade is held the first Saturday in December (December 5th this year). There are many imaginative uses of lights on machinery, vehicles, people and animals. It’s a festive way to begin the Christmas season! The Light Parade is judged by the Chamber President, City Mayor and the Publisher of the Colby Free Press. Prizes are awarded to the first place in each of the five categories. This year’s 23rd annual Christmas Light Parade will feature the theme Christmas Stories. There is no charge to have an entry in the parade, but registrations are due to the Chamber by Thursday, December 3rd.

Caroling at The Prairie Museum of Art and History
Sunday December 6th and 13th from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.: Come enjoy caroling and treats while viewing the Eller House, Nicol School, sod house and Lone Star Church decorated for the holidays! Santa will be handing out treats as well!

Zoom For Lunch with PML
Zoom for Lunch, hosted by the Pioneer Memorial Library, will be Wednesday, December 2nd! They will broadcast a recording of the “Christmas Carol” Theatre Play by Brett Crandall Studios and the Pioneer Memorial Library YAC participants.
The broadcast will be available on Facebook, and PML’s Website ( or a link sent to you.
