In Herndon:
Smokey Bear's Birthday
Herndon Community Museum and Herndon PRIDE are hosting an 80th birthday party for Smokey Bear from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 10th at the museum on Main St. Smokey's artist, Rudolph Wendelin, is a 1928 Herndon High School graduate. The party will include a video to learn more about Smokey and his journey with the U.S. forest Service. 

In Atwood:
Library Book Sale
Atwood Public Library is holding a used book sale the week of August 5th - 10th during regular business hours. The sale will also include puzzles, games, DVDs and audiobooks.

Sports Physicals
Rawlins County Health Center is offering free sports physicals from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 1. Call the RCHC clinic at 785-626-3241 with questions.

Community Bible School
Community Bible School is 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. August 5 through 8 at the First Christian Church in Atwood. For information call Toni Paslay at 785-513-6174.

Fried Chicken Dinner
At the Atwood Masonic Lodge the second Sunday each month! Dinner served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with take-out available. Call Dave at 785-626-6107.

NEED A RIDE?
The Rawlins County Shuttle offers convenient transportation to anybody in Rawlins County.
The shuttle travels all over Rawlins County and is free to county residents. 24 hour notice is greatly appreciated, but not completely necessary. Rides are given on a first come first serve basis. This project is funded in part by the KDOT Public Transportation Program. CALL (785) 626-9625
