Events Around the Atwood Area

In Herndon:
The Herndon Ox Roast is being planned as an all day and evening event June 13 to include parade, ox roast dinner, games, dance in the evening. There will class reunions and the museum will be open.

In Atwood:
The Atwood Masons are once again having the Larry Jones Memorial Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 6th at lake Atwood.  Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and the derby starts at 10:00 a.m. Lunch and prizes to follow at noon. That is also the free fishing weekend in Kansas. Equipment and bait will be provided for those that need it. For more info call Steve Brown at 785-626-6359.

Pickleball Camp will be held June 1 through 5. Third & fourth grade 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. fifth and sixth grade 10 to 11 a.m. at the courthouse court. Camp led by Rawlins County Picklers. Bring paddles if you have them.

Summer Gardening Camp for all ages will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on June 3, 10, 17, 23, at GrassRoots Garden Hub, State St. Atwood. 785-626-3921.

Xara Brenn's Eagle Scout Mural Project
Come meet and greet the Mural Artist Mindy Allen. Sunday, June 14th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mojo's. Mindy owns and operates Mindy's Murals out of Junction City, KS and she has painted murals for 11 years. 

Rawlins County Museum in Atwood will be open every Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.
beginning May 24. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Food Pantry
The Rawlins County Food Pantry located at 5Ten Main is regularly open from 4 to 6 p.m. every Thursday afternoon. Come to the alley entrance. Donations are welcome then also. 

Chicken Fried Steak Dinner
Join us at the Atwood Masonic Lodge the 2nd SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH! Dinner served 11 a.m.-1 p.m., take-out available. Call Dave at (785) 626-6107.

Classic Film Series presented by Atwood Public Library
Join the Atwood Public Library for their brand-new monthly FREE movie event at the historic Jayhawk Theatre!
Showing the last Sunday of every month, this exciting series will feature a wide range of beloved films from the 1940's through the 1990's. Thanks in part to a generous grant from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, the library is thrilled to bring these timeless favorites to the community. 
Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. Concessions available for purchase. Admission is Free!

NEED A RIDE?
• The Rawlins County Shuttle offers convenient transportation to anybody in Rawlins County. The shuttle travels all over Rawlins County and is free to county residents.
• 24 hour notice is greatly appreciated, but not completely necessary. Rides are given on a first come first serve basis with no special designations for priority trips such as medical or other appointments.
