Firework Display in Colby
The Kiwanis Club sponsored Fireworks Display is scheduled for 10 p.m. at the Thomas County Fairgrounds!
Colby Community Band to Perform July 5th at Fike Park in Colby at 7 p.m. The free performance will feature patriotic music marking the historic milestone. Those attending are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening in the park. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Frahm Theatre at Colby Community College. Updates regarding the location will be posted on social media closer to the event.
The Prairie Museum to Observe Americas 250th
with the community with a "sharing the Spirit of America" celebration on July 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. With a public reading of the Declaration of Independence, a flag presentation and a community potluck dinner! This program is part of a nationwide initiative to bring communities together to read the Declaration of Independence simultaneously in recognition of celebrating the nations 250th birthday.
July 3rd: Adult Softball at 4:00 p.m. in McDonald. Family activities include a bouncy castle, water slides, corn treasure tank, fire truck rides, barrel train rides and tattoos! All from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. A pulled pork and hot dog meal will be served at 6:00 p.m. followed by the side-by-side raffle drawing.
July 4th: Fun Run registration at 7:30 a.m. at Van Doren Park. Parade begins at 11:00 a.m. followed by an All-American hot dog meal at 11:30 a.m. Fire truck rides, barrel train rides and family activities continue through the day. A watermelon eating contest begins at 12:30 p.m. followed by a speaker presentation and ice cream social at 2:30 p.m. at the Bird City Legion Hall. Free swimming offered from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Bird City Pool!
Gates open at the Bird City Thresher Grounds at 6 p.m. with announcements and the national anthem at 9:45 p.m., fireworks at 10:00 p.m.
Lake Atwood's July 4th Celebrations!
7:00 a.m. activities begin with the County Challenge 2K and 5K races on the north side of the lake. 3-on-3 basketball tournament is scheduled from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., followed by children's bike races at 5:00 p.m. for ages 6 and under at 5th St and Lake Road, ages 7 to 12 at the Country Club entrance and ages 13 and 14 at Bliss Field. Blue Train rides begin at 6:00 p.m. A Patriotic Salute to America, featuring a Parade of Flags and local talent show, starts at 8:00 p.m. at the gazebo! Available through the day is live music, food vendors and games. Fireworks after dark is sponsored by the Atwood Ambassadors and Atwood's Second Century Organization.
