Events for Colby and Goodland

Goodland "Blocktoberfest"
*This event has been cancelled until 2021*
~Enjoy food, music, and fun at Goodland's Second Annual Blocktoberfest on Oct. 17 from 4-7 p.m. MDT. Blocktoberfest is Goodland’s annual block party, held on the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Main. Enjoy live music, including classic hits, folk, and gospel, food trucks, and other vendors. Shop at local businesses and explore Downtown Goodland. Goodland Carnegie Arts Center will hold a public art project. Bring your own lawn chairs and sit on Main Street. After Blocktoberfest, take in the movie “Nightmare Before Christmas” at the Sherman Theatre.

Downtown Trick or Treat
~Be sure to bring the kids to downtown Colby for Downtown Trick or Treat to celebrate Halloween! Participating businesses will have a special flier on display in their window and will be outside their businesses on the sidewalk. Free trick or treat bags will be handed out in front of Colby City Hall. The event runs from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. the Friday before Halloween.


Boo Bash!

~ Halloween Event for Grades K-6th

October 24th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Community Building Gym, 285 E. 5th St.

Costume encouraged! Pumpkin carving, Costume Contest, Live Movie Showing and Candy with other treats!

Boo At The Moo! on Saturday, October 24th

~Kids in costume and their parents can trick or treat at the historic buildings! Free for kids in costume and their parents from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Visit prairiemuseum.org


Halloween 'N Horses

~Join the CCC Equestrian Team for Halloween and Horses from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the CCC Agriculture Center (2002 Co Rd 23 (3 miles east of Colby on HWY 24 and N on Co Rd 23) on Wednesday, October 28th. This is a drive-through event to see the CCC horses in costume. Tour the property from the comfort of your vehicle. Every vehicle receives a goodie bag. Ziegelmeier Family Benefit Meal (Saturday, Oct. 31st)

~The Gem Lions Club and Thrivent Financial will sponsor a benefit meal for the Pete Ziegelmeier family from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meal will feature pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, and cookies for a $10.00 donation. It is a drive-through event taking place at the American Legion in Colby. Please use the 4th Street and Experiment Farm Road to enter the Legion drive.

Museum Soups To-Go!
~It's soup weather! The good cooks among the Thomas County Historical Society membership stand ready to fill your freezers with quarts of delicious, homemade soup to pull out on those chilly nights when a hot bowl of chicken noodle, vegetable beef, chili or taco soup is just what you need! It is just $10 per quart. Order through October 30... pick up November 10 or 11. For more info call (785) 460-4590.

Lighting Ceremony in Need of Lights
~Please help make this Christmas merry and bright. The Christmas Committee needs donations to help decorate Fike Park for the 3rd Annual Fike Park Lighting Ceremony held after the Light Parade. Check out the chamber website to see the wish list for decorations and for more information on the Christmas Committee. If you wish to join the committee to help plan this annual project or if you have a group of volunteers to help with setting up the lights, contact the Chamber office today at 785-460-3401.

Pioneer Memorial Library StoryWalk 
~The Fall edition of StoryWalk is up at the corner of 10th and Country Club. Start at the East End. Check out the Pioneer Memorial Library website for extended activities on the children's page.

HURRICANE LAURA DONATIONS AT CUMC
~With the destruction left in the path of Hurricane Laura, Colby United Methodist Church is accepting financial contributions to reach those in need. Through the denomination's disaster relief and recovery agency, UMCOR, 100% of donations received go to assist with the needs of those on the ground. CUMC does not keep a penny of these donations.  
A safe and easy way to donate is through the agency's website. If anyone who uses this method of helping those in need would do so, click on the button at the top of the Church’s website to be directed to the agency’s website.

Helping Paws Food Bank
~Donations are needed in the form of kitty litter, cat food, dog food or monetary contributions to the Helping Paws Pet Food Bank located at the Colby United Methodist Church. For more information, contact the church at 785-460-2761.

Double Down on Fighting Hunger
If you are planning to make a monetary donation to Genesis-Thomas County, you can make your dollars do double duty by donating at our local 24/7 Travel Store. They will match any donations to Genesis made at their store through the end of September! Great opportunity to help your local food bank!

Chicken Fried Steak Night
~The American Legion will be having a 'to-go' Chicken Fried Steak Night from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 7th. Please use the 4th Street and Experiment Farm Road to enter the Legion drive. For more information contact Tracey Galli at (785) 462-0450.
