Events for Colby and Goodland

Helping Paws Food Bank
~Donations are needed in the form of kitty litter, cat food, dog food or monetary contributions to the Helping Paws Pet Food Bank located at the Colby United Methodist Church. For more information, contact the church at 785-460-2761.

Drag Main Night
~The American Legion Riders, Post #363 will be hosting a ‘Drag Main’ night on Saturday, August 15. The Colby Chamber Young Professionals will be serving the concessions. A mini-poker run will also be held. Carl Miller, ALR Director, is the contact: 785-269-7378.

CCC Block Party

~The Colby/Thomas County Chamber of Commerce and the Colby Convention & Visitors Bureau are partnering with Colby Community College to host the annual CCC Campus Block Party on Wednesday, August 19th. Local businesses, churches and organizations are invited to set up a display booth at the block party that they can use to introduce students to their merchandise, services, volunteer opportunities and job openings. The college will be serving a lunch. Vendors can also register up until the 18th to be able to attend. Register today online or call the Colby/Thomas Co. Chamber at 785-460-3401.

Backpack Giveaway
~There will be a Backpack and School Supply giveaway on August 15th in the Parking Lot of College Drive Assembly from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. They will have 250 backpacks to give away. Call 785-462-8234 for more information.

Colby Free Produce *Update!*
~Another truckload of the CFAP (Coronavirus Farmers Assistance Program) free produce will be distributed to the Colby area every other week. The distribution time is set for 9:00 a.m. at the Colby Community Building (time is subject to change based on truck delivery). For updates and changes please follow the Thomas County Health Dept. Facebook page. Truck delivery will be every other week for the Colby area through August.
 Distribution Coordination provided by: Thomas County Health Department, Colby United Methodist Church, Colby/Thomas County Chamber of Commerce, and the Colby Convention & Visitors Bureau. Thank you also to the City of Colby and the Colby Community College for assistance with volunteers in these distributions.

Farmers Market
~Load up and head over to the Farmers Market (4:30 - 6:30 p.m.) downtown on Franklin every Wednesday—they will have fresh produce, canned and baked goods, homegrown beef, MeliHeal and more! For questions contact Jacy Moss at 785-465-9103.

Bringing it all Home Art Exhibit
~The title "Bringing it all Home" honors Annette Hutfles-Boardman's first art exhibition in her hometown of Colby. Boardman's art exhibition featuring almost 40 works of art will be on display at the Prairie Museum in the Garvey Education Room through the end of August, many of which will also be available for sale. Although admission is required to see the rest of the indoor galleries and outdoor exhibits at the Prairie Museum, visitors are always welcome to view art showings in the Garvey Education Room for free. In light of COVID-19, exhibition guests are asked to maintain social distancing guidelines, and masks are recommended. For more information, please call the Prairie Museum at (785) 460-4590.
